THE PROBLEM WITH YECS

The term "YEC" stands for "Young Earth Creationist". These Christians
claim to take the Bible in a literal sense allowing them to come up
with the age of the Earth, to be 4000 - 10000 years old. They do all of
this by adding up the years in the Bible geneologys to form their absolute
truth claim. So, by their logic, if we go back 6000 years to Adam, then
the Earth and also the universe must also be 6000 years old.

I was raised in a fundamentalist church, that had a slightly different
view of the subject. Someone came up with a sort of gap theory. The old
Hebrew word for "day" was also the word for "age". They put a large period
of time between the first and second verses of Genesis making it possible
for the creation of the Earth and the creation of Man to be two different
periods of time.

I recently went to a web site named "Institute for Creation Research "
who told me how evil my gap theory was. Now, I know how a poker player feels
when his pair of Queens is beaten by 4 of them. Something about this subject
just isn't right. I can go to Google and Study the subject and run through
several Science (Atheist?) sites who hold to the opinion that the Creation
created itself in a process that is so unlikely, that it would be more likely
for me to win the Lottery 42 times in a row.
How stupid do they think I am ?
What I read at ICR, was an article by Henry Morris called "Why the Gap Theory
Won't Work". Mr. Morris was very convincing, but something just did not add
up. The whole article depended on the supposed fact that no evil could exist
before the fall of Adam and therefore no dead bones could exist before the
fall of Adam. (Death) I always get turned off by absolute Holy opinions. I
have never known any human that I could trust to have such knowledge. Only
God himself is that All Knowing.
Things are never as simple as they seem to be. We have all noticed that
problem with Scientific type Atheist experts. The same goes for Holy
theologians. They demand absolute simple facts that explain absolutly
everything. Ha Ha. Nice try.
The problem with the idea that there could be no evil before the fall of
Adam is that one little critter known as a serpent. He was one big liar. Evil
DID exist before the Fall of Adam. OK you guys. Back to the drawing board.
I find, that when several experts hold to different opinions on a subject,
it is very unlikely that any of them are totally right or wrong. Rather than
join with any of these opinions I think it better to borrow everyone's facts
and make my own set of ideas from these facts. By the way, I do not consider
this to be "compromise". That is not my goal. My goal in the matter is to
obtain truth as good as I am allowed to obtain it.
My goal on this subject can be found in the book of Hebrews:

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after
those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write
them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me
a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man
his brother, saying, KnowtheLord: for all shall know me, from the least to
the greatest.

As far as the yecs idea of the fossil record; They seem to think that
the fossil record was laid down during the period of the flood. Although
I consider that a possibilty, I have come up with another idea that although
a little far fetched, could explain these fossils. How do we even know that
the fossils are real. We could actually have a major case of planted evidence.
Maybe we should quit trying to use science and switch over to something more
useful, like forensics. Faking all those fossils would be imposible for humans,
but there was a force in the world before the time of Christ, that could have
pulled it off.

The Bible gives us an example of this power, in the book of Exodus. Moses confronted
Pharaoh and performed a miracle by turning his staff into a serpent. Pharoah's
magicians could also do this. Several of the things that Moses could do,
they could also do. A power strong enough to turn a staff into a snake was
also powerful enough to fake the fossil evidence. All they needed was a few hundred
years of advanced noticed. Big job, but they may have been up to it.
